Blogs are websites where the administrator keeps online logs, similar to journal entries. The administrator can post about any topic or topics. Other users can then post comments. Posts usually contain text but can also contain media such as sound, music, video, pictures, etc. & they often have links to other websites. Many blogs also contain widgets or gadgets.
Blog posts are usually displayed in reverse chronological order. However, similar to a diary or journal, the content is not necessarily in order, just a stream of consciousness. The blog administrator has control over privacy settings such as who can view & comment on their blog. Most blog sites also allow the user to customize their blog by changing the background, fonts, & layout. There are many free sites for a user to get a blog such as: blogger, wordpress, myblogsite, or if you are an educator: edublogs just to name a few.
